the crucial fiction for the bucks

All symbols operate in the society with a rather simple and discreet mechanism, granted that they run on top of trillions of highly complex biological cells, granted that when there are billions of societal units their interactions can be quite unpredictable. The actual snapping into place of the symbol into the brain is quick and not complex, however. What makes it seem busier is the fact that the symbol receiving apparatus has a small aperture that is only able to scan at a certain rate. As a result, the surface of the operation is fractal, seemingly random, like dreams- but it is merely chaotic, not random. There is a danger that exists in proximity to multiple symbol streams, perhaps at certain nodes that fnord are unevenly distributed.  This can be when a vertical stream intersects a horizontal stream, representing two different modes of symbol propagation. Cognitive Dissonance' may result, leading to instabilities of various kinds, although error correction mechanisms normally function to prevent excess instability by merely editing out contradictory data, but the system can only tolerate a certain level of CD before the whole sky just opens up.

i don't make things.  i just watch them grow; houseplants. they take time to become visible to normal sight.   the critical path is not a straight line but the most efficient one (like a sailboat tacking into the wind).  nothing is forgotten; nothing is erased.  everything is fuel; everything is fire, of various rates.  it's a bit like life itself, and frankly i'm not sure where the exact edge is between what i do and what is done to me by the Quantum Field, which is good because that means the whole arrangement is highly and variously reflective and that is at least interesting.  

art is just us.  nothing is unnatural: the hair and fingernails; the termite's mound; the found stick; the automobile and computer.  we humans are the infectious muck that films this planet, busy converting chemicals into other chemicals, brewing and doing.  art is justice.

they say that ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny but it's more a reflection than a recapitulation.  as above, so below.  the microcosm reflects the macrocosm, and vice versa.  all reflections translate and distort, but there is fractal similarity between various scales.  evolution wants to ascend- to the next order of magnitude in scale.  intelligence wants to add links; empathy & understanding comes from consideration of divergent data.

exegesis:

evolutionary aspiration is sometimes seen as an upward movement through levels, from earth to sky, hell to heaven or from the base of the spinal column to the brain.  it is also a movement outward from the micro to the macro, from simple molecular machines to human and planetary systems.  there is also a movement of information integration, from simple understanding to complex synthesis of multiple knowledge streams- from simple parts to complex systems.  in reality, these movements can go in both directions: up and down, in and out, simple to complex, complex to simple.  

there is no reason why the human (or the hypothetical extraterrestrial being) has to be the pinnacle of organization.  the Gaia Hypothesis has yet to be disproven, and, in this essay i will discuss the Lactea Hypothesis...
