REIFY (The Watching Thing of the North-West)

REIFY (The Watching Thing of the North-West)
benjamin harubin 2018
59" x 46"
acrylic, oil, latex on canvas

In the Night Land, creatures emerge from the ground;
flashes and floaters in the sight,
such as dots, spots, a circle, half moon, insect-like shapes, lines, films or cobwebs.
Here they become elves and anthropomorphic toasters and radios and vacuums.
This is the endless dreaming creation:  all of art and science and politics.

small shrines to cellular miracles

eventually they think they will understand this reality so completely that no miracles will exist and its simulation will be indistinguishable from it.
that will be a fucking miracle.

The World is Burning; Still Starchild Grows.

The Fule

blinded by science;
confusing the anthropic principle
for the anti-entropic principle.
the membrane is where you're insane;
neither above, nor below;
it's the flow.

girls and boys are different.
but so is everyone different-
what's your point?

girls and boys are different
if you want to believe that those are two separate compartmented things.
people are not things.

girls and boys are the same.
name any two groups, categories or diagnoses of people
and you have the same basic brain box jelly peep.

yeah ok general statistical correlations if you have a large group but
1- these differences are not all that (compared to what?), and
2- there are no actual human beings that are statistically perfect.

Ozzy's Killbot Monument Prankt

Ozzy's Killbot Monument Prankt
benjamin harubin 2016
assemblage; various materials, acrylic
26" x 10" x 4"

      Obviously there's a reference to Shelly; a degraded figure emerging from the chaotic ruin of a once great empire; a garbagey rebirth; a sketchy memory re- re- translated out of the Cube.  What else lies buried in the sand?
