When the paradigm shatters, everyone must go back to the lab; back to the first principles, the dirty world (birds, bugs, beasts...)
It's not that we were wrong, the math checks out; the words describe but they are inadequate by themselves.
Theories can never be complete, there is always some fuzz and lint.
Don't let the dust bunnies bite you on the ass on your way out like a light.
Finagle it, let Jesus take the wheel.
[you know it's not Jesus when you're in the wrong lane, unless you're in Australia where everything is upside down and backwards]

It's not that you "forget things," it's that you never filed them properly in the first place.

If they exhume my notebooks, they will know i was a bastard, etc.
In my defense, biology is conservative.  Biology is mainly what has been written before, like, dude you have 47 copies of the same virus in your junk drawer, why are you hanging on to this?
Perhaps creating complex solutions when facing complex problems it is beneficial to have a plethora of shapes to play with.  Praise be to the completists and the useless eaters of paper.  Praise be to the archivists.

You could try to burn the library and kill the infidels (who are, ha ha, you) and i suppose the cosmos will oblige you but the information will survive in a new universe, therefore no black hole information paradox.
