a game so real with pressure and smells and taste and temperature. 

inhabit the shell!  climb into the sphere!  we're almost there!

are they dreaming of migration to a new home?

a parallel domain to gain insight into the (next) ultimate domain?

do they realize it's a game?

of course the king makes a big show, in ever expanding circles, of certain impressive magic,

but do they all BELIEVE? 

as in not "why are we playing this game?"

the key is vibrating in many frequencies.   the way may look cluttered, but there are gaps and secret chimneys and a long way may be much quicker than hacking the thickets.

if the hand don't know what the foot is doing, it cannot be compromised. if you wish to commit unspeakably unnatural acts, it is necessary to compartmentalize. if you wish to commit acts of metamorphic insurrection, it is necessary to atomize. the chrysalis hides its furious cutting and pasting from the corporate co-optators. in the past, commoners created secret, hidden languages to prevent being co-opted.  the great machine of history and inertia cannot lock on to the pattern in a sea of chaotic innovation.

rationalists & scientists have not found that definitive thing that magical spark the weight of the human soul⁰ that separates the living from the nonliving, rather there is set of descriptions a laundry list of a matter of philosophy Life is a quality that distinguishes matter that has biological processes, such as signaling and self-sustaining processes, from matter that does not, and is defined descriptively by the capacity for homeostasis, organisation, metabolism, growth, adaptation, response to stimuli, and reproduction. Many philosophical definitions of living systems have been proposed, such as self-organizing systems. Viruses in particular make definition difficult...¹  not to mention prions not to mention hair, fingernails, "dead" skin cells, mollusc shells, termite mounds, not to mention the internet, not to mention gravity, magnetic fields, streams of electrons and ions which connect everything everywhere infinitely (another philosophically ridiculous concept).

for many years this piece hung in the bathroom at Tito's but then one day came back to me and found new life.
